Brilliant and multi award-winning movie director Darren Aronofsky is one of the most talented, intelligent and hardworking individuals in Hollywood today.

He is also one of the nicest directors you will ever meet.

Aronofsky, with hits like Black Swan  (2010), Noah (2014)  and The Wrestler (2008) behind him, is one of the most sought after young directors in Hollywood.

Besides making award-winning films that do well well at the box office, the director is also concerned  about the environment and how climate changes are effecting the Earth.

For his deep environmental concerns and animal protection efforts,  Aronofsky received the Humanitarian Award from the Humane Society of the United States and PETA for his relentless efforts.

Trust me on this one folks.

Starting on March 26 on the National Geographic Channel, a ten-part docu-series called “One Strange Rock” will show incredible scientific aspects of planet Earth through narratives by famous astronauts including Mae Jemison, Peggy Whitson, Chris Hadfield, Leland Melvin and Nicole Stott.

At a recent Princeton University screening for the first episode, (yes, we all felt special) Aronofsky came in person along with his mentor & friend, Hollywood executive Fox President & CEO Peter Rice, to share his thoughts on the making of the series to connect with the audience who wanted to find out more about his instinctive interest in science. “I am very proud of ‘One Strange Rock’. It’s very different from anything I have done before,” the gifted director told a standing room only crowd.

The series was filmed in 45 countries and the narratives from the astronauts are so interesting and profound, it makes you want to watch the series to learn about the science behind the planet.  Chris Hadfield, one of the distinguished astronauts featured, spent 166 days in space and took 45K images. Hadfield performed the famous David Bowie song “Space Oddity” abroad the International Space Station in 2013 making it the first music video ever shot in space.

The series, narrated by award-winning actor Will Smith, opens up with Smith saying “We take the Earth for granted” then releases the viewer across the world as the renowned astronauts tell unique perspectives through their electrifying journey of planet Earth.

“One Strange Rock” is scheduled to air on the National Geographic Channel on March 26 at 10/9c.

The series is a co-production between Nutopia and Aronofsky’s company, Protozoa.
