The 2018 Sports Emmy awards this year were full of surprises, ridiculously stunning people and some very excited winners!

The crucial sports broadcasting industry show is considered to be one of the few if not the only real sports broadcasting recognition event that honor top sports newscasters, producers, writers and gifted athletes for their outstanding achievement in television broadcasting.
Millions of sport fans around the world often depend on sports broadcasting individuals for updates, interviews with top athletes,  team coverage and analyses that showcase industry news front and center with added commentary.

Jacobs, an American professional boxer who held the WBA middleweight title from 2014 to 2017, has a huge following in the boxing industry. Fans from all over the world attend Jacobs’s fights. The boxer is not only an excellent  fighter but also a very well-respected athlete who has seen some tough times in his career. In 2011, the “Miracle Man,” as he is often referred to as in the industry, almost had his career as a top boxer cut short when he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. He has since fully recovered and is back in the ring winning fights and getting ready for a potential fight scheduled in later this year at Madison Square Garden in NYC against Sergiy Derevyanchenko. My full interview with Jacobs will be in the next posting.

The Lifetime Achievement Awards for Sports this year went to the well-respected and industry legend, Barry Frank, sports program content creator, TV rights negotiator and the talent agent for some of the biggest names in sports broadcasting including everyones favorite Bob Costas, John Madden, Mike Tirico and Jim Nantz.  Frank’s long list of shows include The Superstars, Golf’s Skins Game, Battle of the Network Stars and American Gladiators. All very popular shows with the masses and celebrities.20180508 203124 HDR copy 1 200x300 - 2018 Sports Emmy Awards Honor Excellence In Sports Broadcasting It was indeed an honor to meet the legendary Barry Frank and to hear all about his incredible contributions to the world of broadcasting. With the World Cup soccer games  headlined this summer and France winning its’ second World Cup title,  there will be plenty of tough competition between the networks to see who will be taking home a few golden statues next year for their incredible coverage of the 2018 World Cup !

The journey continues…
