Healthcare Workers Are God Sent

Where would the world be without healthcare workers?

Since the Cornonavirus pandemic began, healthcare workers have been front and center taking care of the infected and the very sick. Providing 24/7 around the clock care while sacrificing their own health (over 9000 healthcare workers have been reported as contacting the virus as of this writing), families and putting their personal life on hold for the past few months so they can be ready and available to help the infected patients.

Many of the doctors, nurses, surgeons and front line workers are exhausted from fatigue and are scared to go home thinking they might put their families at risk from working brutally long hours on end in a dangerous and risky environment. Isolation and stress have become the new normal for many of these devoted, selfless and God sent healthcare providers.

“I haven’t seen my family in 6 weeks,” says Tony, an ER doctor in central New Jersey. “My wife took the kids to be with her family before the pandemic spread. I could not put my them as risk. “

Tony recently got tested for the virus and thankfully, was negative.

24 hour shifts and long exhausting days prevent medical professionals from going home since they are needed 24/7 as hospitals and emergency care facilities are overwhelmed with patients and lacking staff to take care of them.

“I have not been home for 4 days and I am about to go on day 5,” said Sheila P. a surgical nurse from Princeton, NJ. “I sleep at the hospital, eat at the hospital and when I get a few moments which is rare these days, I pray at the hospital.

Being around the infected patients for hours and sometimes days, can often impact others including friends and families.

Many of us are staying home or doing our social distancing/mask wearing/ daily routine, while others are complaining about the lockdown (recent protests in Michigan, California, Georgia and other states had marches at Government offices demanding lockdown orders be rescinded), but it’s the healthcare workers that are fighting this deadly pandemic head on day in and day out and helping the infected stay safe while putting their own life on the line daily. They are heroes to the world.

Neighborhoods across the country and world are honoring healthcare workers and front line workers with gratitude signs, community applause groups, drive by clapping (one of my friends, an pediatric surgeon, said she started crying when she came home to a line of cars clapping and singing praises for her work in front of her home.) The Mayor of NYC, Bill de Blasio has promised a massive ticker day parade when NYC reopens heading down The Canyon of Heroes pathway for all the healthcare workers who risked their lives treating COVID-19 patients. It is estimated the crowd in attendance will be in the millions.

Most recently, Blue Angels, Thunderbirds conducted national flyovers to honor COVID-19 responders and essential workers. The gesture brought tears to millions around the world.

At the end of the day when most of us are safe at home counting our blessings and making sure our families are safe, pray for the healthcare and front line workers who are truly God sent and need to honored for their dedication to helping millions stay healthy and alive.

Thanks to www.Tunnel2Towers.org for all their continuous dedication and efforts in honoring frontline heroes. Become a member and get an amazing Sunrise print that will remind you just how lucky we are to have healthcare workers and first responders among us saving lives.
