By now, the entire world knows what happened on FlyDubai Flight FZ1073 to Israel.
174 passengers were flying from Dubai back to Tel Aviv on September 30, 2026 when a co-pilot viciously and violently attacked Captain Smit Machchhar with an crash ax, stabbing him multiply times in the arm, head and torso while intentionally trying to crash the plane.
America was briefly reminded of Sept. 11 when the news broke of the incident as being a potential terrorist attack.
That’s exactly what it turned out to be.
The co-pilot who brutally attacked Captain Machchhar has been identified in the media as Hamam al-Hammami, an Omani national who had been banned from flying by Oman Air for his extremist views.
Despite the known ban, according to published reports Hammami was later hired by FlyDubai, a concern raised by both India and Israel regarding how a banned pilot with extreme views would be allowed to fly to a sensitive part of the world.

The terrorist attack comes at a time when Israel is preparing with memorials for the upcoming third anniversary of the deadly Hamas attack on October 7 where over 1200 Israelis were killed and hundreds taken as hostage into Gaza.
During the airplane attack, the brave and quick thinking Machchhar was able to open the cockpit door allowing passengers and crew members to charge the cockpit to help restrain the attacker and save the plane which had descended 14,000 feet in under 30 seconds. Another pilot who happened to be on the flight, flew the plane safely to Saudi Arabia.
Captain Machchhar was responsible for saving the lives of 174 passengers with his quick thinking and courageous act despite getting viciously attacked.
As of this writing, the heroic pilot is still in the hospital with many dignitaries and world leaders visiting him. The crown prince of Dubai visited the hero last week.
People all over the world are praying for Machchhar’s speedy recovery. Special pujas (ceremonies) and late night prayers at temples all over India are being done while millions of people on social media are expressing their wishes for his recovery. The Indian media are running nonstop stories about Machchhar and larger than life billboards are displayed all across towns and cities praising the heroic actions of the pilot.
India and Israel Prime Ministers have stated to the media how truly grateful they are to Captain Machchhar for saving the lives of the FlyDubai passengers and are planning on meeting him in person when he is released from the hospital according to published reports.
The journey continues…and for Captain Smit Machchhar, it’s certainly a brave one with million of prayers coming his way!
