A spectacular Hindu temple dedicated to one of the most revered Hindu Gods, Shri Ram, located in the holy city of Ayodha, India is all ready to open to the public and with the main consecration event scheduled for January 22, 2024, the temple not only has become the talk of India, but has also gained international traction and is bringing global attention to the world’s largest democracy.
The temple is being managed by the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra and costs close to $181 millions dollars most of which came from donations from millions of worshipers and devotees across India and worldwide.
The temple is especially sacred and special to the millions of Hindus as they believe that the exact location of the temple is the birthplace of Lord Ram.
The construction started in August of 2020 with the honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducting the first ceremonial prayer and ground breaking.
The temple is built on 2.7 acres, length is reported to be 360 feet wide, width is 235 feet and height is 161 feet. It also boasts 366 pillars , 44 doors and three floors. The main deity will be Ram Lalla (child-like form of Lord Ram) and it is being created by India’s famous award-winning gifted sculpture, Arun Yogiraj who hails from a prestigious family of highly-regarded sculptors and artists from Mysuru.
The official opening day on Jan 22 will be considered a national holiday and some schools and several government offices throughout India will be closed. A special commemorative stamp will also be released.
World famous dignitaries and industrialists such as Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani and Narayana Murthy, father-in-law of the Prime Minister of UK, Rishi Sunak.
Among the Bollywood royalty invited, iconic legend Amitabh Bachchan will be attending along with Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Ranjikant, Ranbir Kapoor, Akshay Kumar , Randeep Hooda and acclaimed film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. India cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are also attending. Bollywood superstar, author, dancer and politician Hema Malini who represents the city of Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, is scheduled to do a special dance drama based on Lord Rama’s wife, Sita Devi.
After January 22, the temple will be open to the public and international media are expected to cover and introduce the spectacular masterpiece in the coming weeks to people and devotees around the world.
